Traveling on a budget certainly doesn't mean giving-up on quality and by this I mean, you deserve to get at least what you pay for.

Recently, I've been hearing horror stories that really could have been settled fairly quickly and efficiently if the travelers in question would simply have asked. Too often people are afraid to demand goods and services that they are already paying for and in the case of all-inclusive resorts, should be included.

How Do You Make Sure to Get Everything That You've Paid For?

Drawing from personal experience, you have to ask. It's that simple and yet so productive. Last November, I took a vacation to the Dominican Republic. The resort management booked a room for me that had no AC, no T.V. and no hot water! Well, let me tell you that upon realizing all the flukes inside the room, I picked-up the phone, called reception and politely asked to have a room change.

They first offered to have a repair guy come-in during the day to fix all the problems. I thanked them nicely but let them know that I preferred a room change. Not only did they change my room but they upgraded me to their prestige club which came with a full range of extra goodies and benefits all for free. All that simply because I had been calm, polite but persistent. I got so much more for my money!!

What's The Trick?

Well, start by knowing what your vacation package is supposed to include. These details should be available upon clicking on the Hotel picture that comes-up when browsing your vacation packages.

There, you should find all the information needed. The type of room the package offers, the number of meals/day that are included, the activities offered, the free amenities and so much more. In fact, that specific hotel page should be your #1 gage to finding your perfect vacation deal.

Once you actually get to the resort, take a few minutes to look around your room and see if everything is functional. Make sure the room type corresponds to what the package advertised and if you're not satisfied DO NOT WAIT, ask management right away to have the situation rectified. That's what they are there for and hey, sometimes, like in my case, you might end-up getting more than what you paid for and that's always nice!

3 Techniques To Get The Service And Quality You Are Entitled To

  1. Make sure you know what's included in your package. Once you get to the hotel or resort, check-out your room and make sure everything that's supposed to be there is.

  2. Take a look at the hotel's or resort's website. They are most likely to have everything you need to know about what the establishment has to offer plus it let's you avoid any unpleasant surprises upon arrival.

  3. If you're not satisfied for any reason at all about the accommodations provided then say something right away and be persistent. However, politeness and courtesy are always your best bet when you need something. A smile and a thank-you can make all the difference between a good and bad vacation.
