5 Ways To Start Finding Your Cheap Vacation

Speaking from experience, I've found that whenever I am looking for a really cheap vacation deal, I tend to get discouraged fairly quickly and that's because finding a good deal usually does take a lot of time.

How Much Time Is Too Much Time?

Well, there's no right or wrong answer but personally, I tend to start looking for deals about 2 months before I'm ready to leave.

Why?

Because let's face it, it takes time to find the perfect vacation especially at discount prices. The more time you allow yourself to search and compare prices, the better chance you get at finding the deal.

Travelling without money requires patience and sometimes a lot of work. Take this guy for example, he traveled the world without a penny, asking strangers for shelter and food, without much in return. Traveling this way requires a lot of planning and researching beforehand if it's to be done safely and responsibly but I'll have more on backpacking in later blogs for those interested.

Using some of my personal tools and tricks and taking from aw some websites like roadjunky and traveling internationally without much money ehow site, I put together a list of 5 things to keep in mind when trying to find great deals for less.

  1. Become a member to all your favorite travel websites. travel engines will sometimes offer their members better deals, departure dates, destinations and hotel categories.

  2. Be flexible with your departure dates. The more flexible you are, the greater your chances of finding cheap vacations. Some weeks are more popular than others and for that reason prices tend to be higher.

  3. Look for all types of hotel ratings. 3 star hotels are not the end of the world. Many 3 star or less hotels are quite comfortable and have a lot to offer. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for.

  4. Log on to your travel sites daily. This is important! Some deals are available only for very short periods either because very few airline seats are still available or because the travel company needs to get rid of it quickly. Checking daily lets you benefit from out-of-this-world deals that go as quickly as they came.

  5. Be Patient. If we don't have money to invest in a vacation, taking the time to find what suits our budget can be a long process. Have fun with it and keep your spirits high, there's a really cheap vacation out there waiting for you to find it so don't give-up!
